PDF to ExcelBeta

Extract tables and text from PDF pages into an XLSX workbook.

The PDF is processed locally in this browser and is not uploaded to PDFCook.

Each PDF page is preserved visually in an original-view sheet, and a separate editable data sheet is created from detected text/table structure. Scanned PDFs still keep the original-view sheet even when editable text cannot be recovered.

How to convert PDF to Excel

1. Choose a PDFSelect a text-based PDF containing tables.
2. Detect rows and columnsPDF.js reads text positions and PDFCook reconstructs a spreadsheet-like grid.
3. Download XLSXSheetJS creates an Excel workbook with one worksheet per PDF page.

Convert PDF tables to Excel in your browser

PDFCook PDF to Excel uses Mozilla PDF.js to read PDF text and coordinates, then reconstructs rows and columns from the layout. SheetJS Community Edition writes the result as an XLSX workbook.

It works best with invoices, statements and reports where table columns are visually aligned. PDF files do not contain native Excel cell structure, so complex merged tables and multi-column layouts may differ from the original.

This beta does not include OCR, so scanned/image-only PDFs are not supported yet. File contents stay in your browser.

Open source: Mozilla PDF.js (Apache-2.0), SheetJS Community Edition (Apache-2.0).

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it convert scanned PDFs?

Not yet. This beta requires extractable text. OCR support can be added separately later.

Will the Excel file match the PDF table exactly?

PDFs do not store spreadsheet cells, so the tool infers rows and columns from text positions. Simple tables convert well, while complex merged tables may need cleanup.

What happens with multi-page PDFs?

Each PDF page is saved as a separate worksheet in one XLSX workbook.
